ProfileLondon Central Fellowship Band

The London Central Fellowship Band is a group of Christian, mostly Salvationist musicians from around the London area.

The Band sees itself as an encourager within both The Salvation Army and the wider Christian Church. It prays that its music will bringing encouragement and joy to those to whom it performs. Roland Cobb, formed the band in 1997. The band then soon established itself and just over a year after its formation was invited to perform at the Brass Arts Festival at London’s Regent Hall, along with cornet virtuoso James Shepherd. The debut performance led to later invitations to the annual festival alongside such luminaries as Maurice Murphy and Don Lusher. In 2002 the band was then honoured to play at Lambeth Palace in the presence of the then Archbishop of Canterbury, George Carey.

Subsequent leadership from Don Jenkins and David Daws has seen the band consolidate its reputation, playing at venues including Birmingham Symphony Hall, The Metropolitan Police College, a tour of the Netherlands and in 2012, as guests of the Sydenham Salvation Army Corps in Belfast.

The launch of their CD "Bandology" in 2011, was successful with selected tracks featuring regularly on UK radio stations including Radio 2’s “Listen to the Band” programme. Under the direction of Julian Bright they then recorded "Abundance" in 2014, and the year closed with a successful and warmly received visit to The Salvation Army in Stockholm, Sweden.

Today the Band is under the direction of David Rudd, appointed in September 2015. The Band continue to perform at a high standard and have recently performed in the grounds of Windsor Castle, St. George’s School Harpenden, the Bedfordshire village of Eaton Bray as well as supporting the annual Great Ormond Street Hospital Christmas Carol Concert.
